What can we achieve together?
Your Will, Your Family, Your Community.
Your Will is your legacy – Making a Will is one of the most important things you can do.
Making a Will is an important part of future financial planning and is the best way to make sure your wishes are fulfilled.
Making a Will need not be complicated or expensive, but we do recommend that you seek the services of a practicing local lawyer to ensure that your wishes and intentions are recorded correctly.
We recognise that your Will is a very personal matter and we respect your confidentiality at all times.
If you are considering leaving a gift in your Will, or you have already included the Bass Coast Community Foundation in your Will, please get in touch so we can assist you and discuss your wishes.
Your gift, large or small, will make a significant and enduring difference to our work.
Checklist for Making Your Will
In the making or updating of your Will, we recommend that you seek the services of a local lawyer.
- Understand the value of your estate by totaling the value of your property, possessions and money and subtracting loans and mortgages.
- Decide who should benefit from your Will.
- Select the executor(s) and/or trustee(s) for your Will: solicitors, family members or friends can act as an executor(s) and/or trustee(s) of your estate.
- Select a practicing local lawyer to act as your professional advisor. This ensures that your Will is legally correct and will not be void for uncertainty.
Including Bass Coast Community Foundation in Your Will
If you have already written a Will and would like to include a gift to the Bass Coast Community Foundation, you can easily do so by adding a codicil (short legal amendment) to your existing Will, with the assistance of a local lawyer.
We suggest the following wording as a guide:
“I bequeath to the Bass Coast Community Foundation Ltd [ABN: 20 391 663 724] the …
• [residue] of my estate
• [insert %] of my estate
• sum of $ [insert specified sum]
…for general purposes free of all duties. The receipt of the Treasurer, Secretary or other Authorised Officer shall be a complete and sufficient discharge to my trustees.”
Your Bequest – On Your Terms
If you would like to consider leaving a gift to the Bass Coast Community Foundation in your Will, please do get in touch to let us know what your wishes are. You could download and complete the Donor Preference Form and bring it along to discuss your legacy. Consider talking with your family, your financial planner or a legal representative also. We will take your instruction and we will enact your wishes.
THANK YOU for your consideration.
A gift in your Will gives our work future opportunities.
Your Will, Your Community, Your Legacy
Making a Will not only ensures that your affairs will be settled exactly as you wish, but by leaving a gift in your Will to the Bass Coast Community Foundation, you will continue to support and educate future generations. Because we are a not-for-profit, non-government, totally independent organisation, we depend almost solely on the generosity of our supporters to fund our ongoing work.
Your gift, large or small, will make a difference to our community, funding our corpus for projects which may not otherwise be possible. A gift in your Will also helps to ensure that the Bass Coast Community Foundation will always be there to stand up for education, equity, welfare, the arts, and the environment.
