Who We Are : A brief history
The Bass Coast Community Foundation is a local charitable organisation, independent of religious or political persuasion. It was established in 2002 in response to a growing need for a sustainable source of funds for community projects. The Foundation operates exclusively within the boundaries of the Bass Coast Shire and is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors.
The Foundation gained Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR2) status in 2004, which paved the way for applications to other philanthropic funds to partner the Bass Coast Community Foundation in funding specific community projects. As well as receiving and investing donations from individuals and organisations the Foundation sources funds from outside of the region to fund projects within the region.
100% of funds distributed are done so within the Bass Coast region.
Since 2002 over one million dollars has been distributed by the Foundation to Bass Coast charitable projects, individuals and organisations.
